Review: Shadow of a Girl

Shadow of a Girl Shadow of a Girl by Shannon Greenland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing! Most authors have trouble writing about abuse...an when it is abuse on a child it is even more difficult. But this author did it with class.

It starts off about this girl who is running away an honestly you start thinking if there is more going on than what there actually is... I loved how it showed the main character "Eve" growing an learning to trust...while also being on the run...to me it showed not only her bravery but the friend that helped her escape. At first you don't realize who Gideon is...but you find out about midway through...

I had so many thoughts going on through this book an it kept me guessing which I loved!!

I want to thank Netgalley, Entangled Publishing and Shannon Greenland for giving me the chance to read this ARC for an honest review.

Review: Olivia Decoded

Olivia Decoded Olivia Decoded by Vivi Barnes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had it all...romance, mystery sorta stalking thriller....

I loved Olivia Twisted an knew the Olivia Decoded would be just as good! Instead of starting where OT left off it starts 8months later on Valentine's Day. It shows the aftermath of what happened in Olivia Twisted an brings on new challenges for both Olivia and "Z" aka Jack.

Review: Keeping Her Secret

Keeping Her Secret Keeping Her Secret by Sarah Nicolas
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

I liked the book for the most part...thought Courtney was a little snobbish an a little bit of a prude but than considering her parents and how they were with ballet it actually didn't surprise me all that much. Riya seemed very confident in not only her sexuality but as a person in general which I found amazing!! I was happy with how the author made this book...it not only showed the characters an regular teens that go through everyday issues but it showed how some people no matter how good of a friend they are can be a little cruel

I want to thank Netgalley, Entangled and Sarah Nicolas for giving me the chance to read this book for an honest review

Review: Paint My Body Red

Paint My Body Red Paint My Body Red by Heidi R. Kling
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I feel bad giving this 3 stars but honestly it is more like 3.5 and let me explain why...

The book in general was fine, well put together an I did enjoy it, BUT I kinda felt like it should have been 2 books and it honestly left me wanting more, I liked how the author did the Then and Now an how the character told her story but it just really felt like something was missing for me. It touched on a few taboo subjects for example; teen suicide, rape and in a way death....The main character went through more than most teens do an I think thats why I felt like maybe if it was two books we could have seen more.

I would like to thank Netgalley, Entangled Publishing and Heidi R. Kling for giving me a chance to read this for an honest reivew

Review: Beautiful Disaster

Beautiful Disaster Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of those books where you can feel what the characters are going through...THAT or you've lived it once or twice when you were younger. It isn't your typical romance and THAT is why I love this book. Abby and Travis are crazy enough that it just works!! Both having issues that they are trying to overcome. I loved the fact that before Travis met Abby he was basically a man whore an he had no problems with that. I can't wait to dig into Travis's POV in Walking Disaster.

I really really enjoyed this book.. IDK if it was because this author touched on something (even briefly) that most won't or what but I really liked that Mandy had ADHD...maybe its because I could relate to it...

I loved the banter between Mandy and Caleb it was so cute an you could just see the sparks fly from the beginning. an the hero turned villian Octo-Gus...poor Mandy had her blinders on until the end but I could just see her balling her fist an decking him one...I kinda cheered lol Can't wait to see what else this author brings!

I could see the Madison brothers being competitive, I could see Zoey being torn and I so wanted to reach into the book an smack Luke upside his head an for me THAT makes a great book.

Review: Life After Juliet

Life After Juliet Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I want to thank Netgalley, Entangled Publishing, and Shannon Alexander for giving me the chance to read this for an honest review:

This book made me laugh, cry and throw my hands in the air. :) To me this book was about a girl who lived in books because it was safer than getting attached to real life....even though real life was determined to make her participate.

Becca finally lets someone in (her brother's girlfriend) she ends up with cancer and dies...an in this book Becca not only is struggling with grieving her friend but life is making her participate an she is struggling with that. On a whim she decides to sign up as a "techie" for Romeo and Juliet....gets cast in the play as none other than...wait for it...You guessed it Juliet! an in all of this she is not only learning how to grieve the loss of her friend but she is learning how to participate in life...

It is a day to day struggle for her an anyone who has lost someone close to them can relate. If I could give this more than 5 stars I so would.

I LOVED IT! To me it was a kick ass book that kept me guessing up until the end! I mean yes Evelyn had to deal with her share of skeezy men..but DAMN! I even admit there was a certain part of the book that scared the beejeebees outta me!! ANYWAYS I thought it was a very well written book an it had all the great stuff in it...Murder, Romance, Stalker...it was an awesome thriller/romance and I can't wait for the next one...Spoiler Alert....it wasn't Jasper but that doesn't mean you can't stop guessing who did it :)

Review: The Secret Life of a Dream Girl

The Secret Life of a Dream Girl The Secret Life of a Dream Girl by Tracy Deebs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this book from Entangled and Netgalley for an honest review...

Ok first off I LOVED the book as a whole but hated the ending, I felt like I was just left hanging and it really irritated me. I understood the WHY of it but if it would have been a printed copy I seriously would have shook the book to see if pages fell out.

I thought Tracy Deebs did a great job with the book its the fourth book in the Creative Hearts series BUT the first book with Dahlia and Keegan so technically it could be read before the other 3 books in Creative Hearts and you will do fine :)

Losing a parent at any age is hard, trust me I know....but I think knowing that you are going to lose the parent you are closest too because of something like cancer is even harder and that is what Keegan is going through. Dahilia is a "Disney" star who gets to spend a year as a regular kid...it was actually mentioned near the end of the book that she is doing a Hannah Montana in reverse which I found comical but that is just me :)

Keegan starts crushing on "Dahilia" aka Cherry and is talking about it at a school dance where she over hears an assumes its a "dream girl" not really knowing that SHE is the DG, she starts helping Keegan try to woo his DG which is kinda sweet and funny at the same time because the pointers she gives him. he turns around an does it to her and she is obvious to the fact that he really likes her.

Like I said I loved the book but wished the ending was a little different. Overall it did deserve my 5 stars

Review: The Sound of Us

The Sound of Us The Sound of Us by Julie Hammerle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I want to thank Netgalley, Entagled Publishing, and Julie Hammerle for giving me a chance to read this book for an HONEST review....

First off the star process was a toss up between 3.5 and 4.5... I liked the story overall I just had slight issues with SOME of the characters....

So I liked Kiki in general there were some moments I just shook my head and was like girl you so need to get your confidence back! My biggest issue was Beth....IDK about you but....to me she was a complete butthead! I mean the whole jealousy thing ok...typical girl drama BUT to take papers that your best friend NEEDS and to purposely sabotage her chances with this camp...total bitch move. That being said, I understood why Kiki was wanting to "reinvent" herself and become more like the character in her favorite tv show.

The camp kinda reminded me a little of Big Brother meets Survivor I mean really the backstabbing and "mole" in the camp thing mad me laugh but I was proud of Kiki when she stood up to Kendra and called BS when Kendra was wanting to know hwo the mole was....

It felt like the author left it open for another book...so I am hoping I can find out more on if Kiki got to go to the college and be with Jack or what happened....

I loved this book!!!!!! I admit the fact that is was going backwards was a tad confusing but that was part of the mystery, it doesn't start really from the beginning to the end it. I admit after reading some chapters I did turn around an re-read the other chapters but that was me :) The book kept making me wonder what really happened 10 years ago and than to finally know the truth it all clicked together. I would really really get this book it was one of the better thriller/mysteries that I have read

Well no one said dating was easy and especially when you try to make your ex-friend's cousin jealous by dating said ex-friend, and to throw more weird into it....The Ex-friend's Ex-girlfriend is trying to make sure the fake relationship stay real!!

This book made me laugh an at times want to smack the main character upside her head and go WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! but that is always the best kinds of books in my honest opinion. Can't wait to see where the Corrigan Falls Raiders will take us next...

At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it...I mean drugged out drummer boy fighting a the chance to get clean and have a fresh start meets, kick ass hockey player Penny who even tho ALL the boys have a crush on her she is just one of the "guys"

Riley was the first person to actually SEE Penny as a girl an even though he had his ups and downs he was there for her....Hopefully we see more of Riley and Penny because the ending had me wondering....

First off I laughed my butt off the entire time. I felt a little bad for Cabot because his ex just wouldn't take no for an answer! I really really felt bad for Mariely for how she found out about her bf but than again the signs were kinda there....I also kept thinking she was being a little bit of a snob which to most would be a surprising thing but its true! She was so worried about how she lived that she didn't want to even give Cabot a chance at first. It was a cute book an I can't wait to see where things go with everyone in the series!

No One Knows No One Knows by J.T. Ellison
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thank you J. T. Ellison, Netgally and Pocket books for giving me the chance to give an honest review....

OMG! This book had so many twist, turns and just darkness...one minuet I THOUGHT I knew what was going on an than the next BAM another twist. Near the end I didn't know if I was coming or going!! It had sort of a Gone Girl vibe to it but with the characters reversed.

I would have liked to see it a little more in depth instead of just flash backs but that is what also made it intriguing. It was a definite page turner and shocker near the end, which left the possibility for another book maybe...The one thing that drove me absolutely MAD was I couldn't for the life of me understand Daisy and WHY she hated Aubrey and her mom so much. that bugged me until the very end.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I want to thank Entangled, Netgalley and Kendra C. Highley for a chance to read this book for an honest review--

First I have mixed feelings about this book, I liked it...BUT there were times that I seriously wanted to smack Genna upside her head and tell her to pull it out of her butt!!

I loved how her dad stood by her through it all and never gave up just like her friends. It irritated me a little bit that her mom didn't really seem there when she needed her the most.

In a way the main character was fighting a lot besides the loss of being able to play basket ball. Deep down I felt it was all about her mom. but I am glad she finally was able to get things back on track.

I admit I am curious on what happened with Ro and her gf...my imagination went a million different ways with that one....is it possible for another in the series??

Review: Discovering You

Discovering You Discovering You by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMFG! This book was awesome!!

This is I think one of Brenda Novak''s best YET! I am not one of those people who normally gushes over books, but let me tell you from the start you could just see the sparks fly between India and Rod Amos (sigh) I could not put it down!!
I admit I was a little upset over the situation at first because India got dealt a rather crappy hand but the book had the main male character to handle it. I don't want to say to much because I am scare it will be a major spoiler alert.. I don't know why but the Amos boys hold a special place in my heart. I like ALL the people in Whiskey Creek but...idk those boys just make you melt!

I knew Rod was smitten with India at once and like all the Amos boys once they fall they fall HARD!

Hope to see much more of them in later books. I can't WAIT for the others!!

I had my doubts in the beginning because Sloane just seemed a little to whinney for me at first. But as the story progressed I really started to enjoy it and could relate to them in a way. The only downside I could really see was it felt like the book wasn't complete. There are so many questions....did Greg forgive Hillary? Are Sloane and Eddie still together? What happened with Georgeina?? And those are just a few of them! Overall I did end up loving this book an this author was terrific on keeping me at the edge of my seat

Review: Playing Defense

Playing Defense Playing Defense by Cate Cameron
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was given to me for an honest review:

Honestly I really liked this book, it was a fast read but not the kind where things were missing more of a can't put this down to join in life kind of fast read. I do admit there were some things I did have to look up because the story was based out of CANADA but than London was mentioned so I was slightly confused (learned there was a LONDON in Canada, which I did not know) but other than that I thought it was a cute story about a girl needing to get out of her comfort zone and to do that she tutors the prank doing, fun loving, hockey player. BUT she does have her misgivings about doing this of course!

Using one of his teammates girlfriends to get the read on Claudia, actually backfires on Chris... which made me laugh because it was a typical HS thing!

You don't NEED to read the first book in the series to understand what is going on BUT you will WANT to after reading this one. Its cute, funny and brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard!

Thank you Entangled, Netgalley, and Cate Cameron for giving me the chance to read this!

Holding Court Holding Court by K.C. Held
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this book from Entangled and Netgalley for an honest review :0)

So I have to admit this book made me laugh especially when the main character sixteen-year-old Jules Verity would say her premonitions. I mean her friend had nailed it on the head when she called it Psychic Tourette's Syndrome or PTS for short! The stuff that came out of this girl's mouth made me giggle. I felt a little bad for her because she didn't want this to happen and than when she got her job at castle-turned-dinner-theater Tudor Times, things don't really go according to plan...

I have to say this book is a fun, light hearted make you giggle book that is a perfect read for when you need a laugh

Review: How Willa Got Her Groove Back (Willa and Finn Book 1 of 3)

How Willa Got Her Groove Back (Willa and Finn Book 1 of 3) How Willa Got Her Groove Back (Willa and Finn Book 1 of 3) by Emily McKay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I got this book from Entangled and Netgalley for an honest review:

Ok SERIOUSLY! I enjoyed the book, really I did...Up. Till. The. Ending! I was shocked....angry....had a serious What the Hell Just happened moment! If I would have had the physical book in my hand I probably would have shaken it to see if pages fell out as it was I kept flipping back an forth on my e-reader very very confused!

So basically Willa gets a shock of a lifetime when he dad announces that he is getting married...and not to just anyone but THE Mia McCain uber famous movie star. Not able to handle it she flees the restaurant only to run into who she thinks is a complete stranger on a motorcycle. They go to this park an she tells him what happens only later to find out he is actually her soon-to-be step-brother Finn, they have this strange attraction to each other which hey to each their own right. to make matters worse her world just seems to be going downhill from there.

Anyways, near the end of the book Willa comes to terms so to speak with this whole wedding idea and than it felt like the book just ended...it was a serious WTH moment for me. I am going to go back through an read it again because it was a very fast read. I will update this after that happens

Review: Love Me, Love Me Not

Love Me, Love Me Not Love Me, Love Me Not by Alyxandra Harvey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book from Entangled for an honest review:

Love Me, Love Me Not is a teen love story with a Romeo and Juliet twist to it. Instead of the traditional Romeo and Juliet though it is with Vilas (swans) and Renards (Foxes). and like Romeo and Juliet there is a blood feud but THAT is where the similarities really end...

Ana Vila can only transform into her swan shape for the first time after she has fallen in love ....and I don't mean familiarity love, loving herself or items, I mean REAL true love, but between the blood feud and life she doesn't have time and the only thing keeping her sane is her BFF Pierce.

Pierce doesn't know what to do he is in love with Ana and has to watch her find love. One faithful night he kisses her and of course she freaks and thinks its because of something else so now he has to show her that he really loves her and SHE has to stop the blood feud before it takes everything away that she loves....including...maybe Pierce

I thought this book had good potential. I felt it was slightly confusing because of the switching back and forth with the two point of views. Once I got past that I thought the book flowed very well.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For an honest review I was able to receive this book from Netgalley...

This book made me laugh and remember what it was like to be a over hormonal teenager all at once. The author did a good job with making sure the characters acted like real teens, more often than not some authors forget to do that.

I wasn't to thrilled with how the book ended but in a way I guess it was left open like that incase there is a second book coming. Which I hope there is because I would love to see how Olivia handles things from now on.

Take Me Home for Christmas Take Me Home for Christmas by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG Brenda Novak has done it again! Through out this book I was hanging on to the edge of my seat. Until they had found Sophia's husband's body I was for sure thinking everything to he was gna come back an make her life hell...to he was really dead to he was faking it an going to try to kidnap their daughter!! I was also cheerjng for her and Ted that they would get their happily ever after. Something with Ted an Eve just didn't feel right to me. BUT I am hoping Eve finds true love soon!! The thing that bugged me was the Sheriff! He needs his badge taken away an tarred an feathered!! He made me so mad taking everything out on Sophia.

If I could go higher than 5 stars I so would. I think this is one of her best yet!

White Heat White Heat by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Novak touched on a lot of taboo issues with this book. Everything from the cult background, to the abuse of women to how the "cultleader" seen his sexual preference.

It held me in suspense from beginning to end! Having Rachel grow up in a cult like environment made the book more interesting because you weren't sure what way she was going to go. I wish I could have seen a little bit more on what happened with the cult after finding Sarah and Martha but am happy with the ending.

Review: Stranger in the Moonlight

Stranger in the Moonlight Stranger in the Moonlight by Jude Deveraux
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Disclosure:I won this book from Goodreads.com Thank you!!

I felt like this book was missing something...idk if it was lack of passion, spark, anticipation...but it felt rushed. I have read ALL of Ms. Deveraux's books and they have all had heart an it is almost like you are in the book while you are reading it, but this one lacked that.

One of the main things I was disappointed in was how she did Travis's half brother, it was almost like he was an after thought...let alone how fast he got engaged!

Normally you see the characters with a conflict or struggle, with this one the characters go from having childhood feelings to being adults with the same feelings...ya in a way Kim held a grudge because he suddenly disappeared an you see a mention about a plaque that Travis had but honestly it was almost like an after thought.

I know that when there are bad reviews it gets taken personal an thats what it felt like with this book that all the bad reviews from the past made this author not put any heart in this at all.

Review: Gone Girl

Gone Girl Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book not only kept you guessing but once I got past the what the...just happened...moment I couldn't put it down. The ending was a little to be desired for....to much was left unsaid an open for me, it makes me wonder if there will be a book 2...

Throughout the first part of thebook you were kept wondering...did he kill her, did she frame him, is this some sick game between them, than you find out he has a mistress so you wonder did the mistress do it....did she help the husband...and through it all there is conflicting emotions..

Review: Come Home to Me

Come Home to Me Come Home to Me by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brenda Novak did it again!!! This time Aaron and Presley got their happy ending!! It may seem strange but I loved watching the struggle that Presley had with keeping her secret. Though it worked out in the end! I couldn't put the book down! Although I understood WHY Aaron did what he did for Chey....I have a feeling that this secret is not going to end well....which makes me sad.

I am interested in seeing what comes next with the series. Riley, Eve, the other Amos boys and their step mom...(tho I am suspicious of her!)

Thank you for giving me a chance to read this in advance!!

OMG!!! I have to say this is one of her best ever!!!! I loved seeing Riley's side of the story an getting Pheonix's side. I CAN NOT wait till the next book!!! I was so proud of Jake for standig up for his mom and believeing in her

Review: A Winter Wedding

A Winter Wedding A Winter Wedding by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am always amazed at how she does it. But Brenda Novak just seems to KNOW how to pull the reader in and keep them there from beginning to end!

A Winter Wedding is essentially Kyle's story. It gives the reader a chance to understand what happened between him and Noel. It also gives him a chance to find love again just like all of the Whiskey Creek Novels.

I loved how Kyle and Lourdes became closer and even though she came to get away from what she seemed to think was a failure, to me it was fate bringing her to the one person who would never give up. and I think they both were able to let go of the past (something Kyle really REALLY needed to do.) and make a fresh start.

I admit I had to read the story twice because the first time it felt like something was missing or something was a little rushed. It was mainly during the scene with his ex wife but after reading it again I feel like yes something was missing but that maybe it was done on purpose. that MAYBE we will learn more of what happens with Noel later on.

I stand by the fact that this was a great book and a "can't put it down the husband is on his own for dinner and the house can be cleaned later" start to finish kind of book.

Review: Zoo

Zoo Zoo by James Patterson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was a little hard to get through at first because it would switch back an forth between the main character an sometimes it would be what a particular animal was thinking which made it very confusing for me. After I got to "book 4" it all started to make more sense an go together which helped! It also kinda makes you wonder if this is something that could really happen at some point....

Review: The Secret Sister

The Secret Sister The Secret Sister by Brenda Novak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG Brenda Novak has done it again!!!! This book has kept me in suspense from begining to end! I kept rooting for masiey n rafe through the entire.process an am so glad they are together an planning to get married. Rafe definately showed that no matter what he loved her an even if it meant walking away so she could have a relationship w her mom. I was very worried at first thatshe would go back to that horrible ex of hers! I am gladthateverytghing worked out in the end....she found true love, the pain of losing her child eased AND she not only found out she had a sister.but she also seemed to make her peace with her mom
